While campaigning for a “Big Pink Volleyball” event, how do you communicate that it is not the tournament but the volleyball that is supersized? Through visuals and copywriting, I focused on the disbelief surrounding the volleyball’s abnormal girth. Giving voice to eccentric characters, its absurdity was celebrated with the tongue and cheek hashtag: #datballrealbig. Drawing on comic art for look and feel, this campaign emphasizes the ball’s larger than life mentality. Hype for this event was created through social media posts, videos, and posters; culminating the day of the tournament with shirts, posters, photo walls, sweatbands, and the big pink volleyball itself.
